I will often hear someone say, “I worked so hard today!” It’s usually someone who has put in a long day at the office. To me, this is only worthwhile if that person has actually accomplished something. There is a big difference between working hard and working intelligently.
What would you say if [...]

I was at an outdoor art show last summer in Minneapolis. There were all sorts of works by local artists, mostly paintings, necklaces, jewelry, and pottery. Some of it was a bit amateurish, but most of the work was amazing. One guy was running a photography shop that was filled with unbelievable [...]

Many careers can be parlayed into self-employed ventures. In a previous entry I discussed how Graphic Designers can just as easily be self-employed (well, maybe not AS easily) as office slaves. For your entertainment here is a fun list I concocted of some of these careers. Enjoy!

I took the car to work today. On my way to the office I watched everyone slow down and begin the standard 5-mile an hour crawl into downtown at the same place it always begins. A multitude of cars, SUVs and Ford 4×4s each with the same destination. The words “saturated market” [...]

It was the dawn of the 21st century. Everyone had packed up their shops, closed the company doors and moved to a different world. Great warehouses, small boutiques and cozy shops were abandoned, the “For Sale” signs hanging from their entrances. No longer would they be doing business, paying for property ownership [...]

So, that magical day has finally come. You have retired (or made a break from the rat-race by making your own livable income.) What next? You sure have a lot of time on your hands. Make no mistake about it, for some people, this can be a confusing time. While many [...]

Is this your boss?
Scared of coming to work? This is a really funny rant website. I already have a link to it in my sidebar. Word of caution, however. Whatever you do, though, do NOT log onto that site while you are at work! I think I read somewhere on there [...]

This week I have discussed how much people are actually working versus how much they are being told they are working. The forty-hour workweek is largely a myth, unless, of course, you work “30 hours” a week!
But, while we spend a large portion of our waking hours chained to our desks, we are able [...]
